Free Boating Courses
The Hingham Harbormaster Dept, in partnership with the Weymouth Harbormaster Dept and the Massachusetts Environmental Police, will be presenting two Basic Boating Safety Courses at no cost to the public. These courses are designed for persons of all ages, regardless of boating skill.
These courses are federally approved, and course completion will allow persons to legally operate a boat in states that require completion of a Basic Boating Safety Course. Everyone who completes a course will be issued a Basic Boating Safety Certificate. Completion of a course by persons between 12 and 16 years of age will allow them to operate a motorboat without adult supervision. In addition, some insurance companies offer policy discounts for customers that complete a Basic Boating Safety Course.
The courses are taught at the Hingham High School Room 124, located at 17 Union St. Hingham.
Each course is three Wednesdays for class time and one Saturday for testing.
